The 'Get To Know Me' Tag

Updated: Jul 11, 2020

Inspired by JennyInNeverland’s post (link below), I thought to celebrate reaching fifty followers on Twitter (thank you!) that I’d let you all get to know me a little better. Some questions are from Jenny’s post, and some are my own. Without further ado, let’s begin:

1. Five random facts about you?

I’m an Aries, I LOVE musicals, I never follow trends as I prefer my own style, I’ll always stand up for what’s right and I’ve never had an alcoholic drink (yep, really!).

2. What is your favourite colour?

Hmm, it’s so hard to choose! I like pale pastel colours, like pinks and blues – oh, and lilac!

3. What is your favourite memory?

I’d have to say that my most favourite memory was seeing my new puppy for the first time! I had begged and begged my family for one for years, so when our beautiful cockapoo pup was welcomed into the family, I practically squealed with delight.

4. Describe a day in your life.

Oh, this will sound quite dull but as I work full-time, my days off are absolutely precious to me. So honestly, I get up, shower, etc. and then make a to-do list of housework chores and tasks to be completed that day (I always do this as I have depression, so with each ‘tick’ of the to-do it feels like I’m fighting back) and I also allow myself time to rest. I often finish a day with lighting a candle, and reading a book while snuggled underneath a blanket.

5. If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Chinese food. Does it even need an explanation? Spring rolls, duck pancakes and sweet and sour chicken, yum, yum, yum! I can’t simply choose one, they’re too good!

6. What is something you really dislike?

When people say ‘man up’! Also inequality, child and animal abuse, people who are quick to judge others, generally racist or aggressive individuals, oh and slugs - they’re so slimy and gross. There’s more obviously, as I could talk for ages!

7. Summer or Winter?

Another hard one! Can I choose neither, because I absolutely adore Autumn. Ah, but if I had to choose I’d go for Summer, simply because I love the sun and the heat. And while I love snow, I can become irritable when I’m out in the cold for too long.

8. What is the thing you hate the most about your mental illness?

The thing I hate the most is when you’re having a good day, and then depression hits and tells you that you’re worthless and that you shouldn’t be here, etc. Yeah, that. However, to end on a positive note, something I like about it (if you can even ‘like’ an illness) is how you can use it to help others, and that it gives you a full understanding of how a mental illness can affect other people and help you to know what to say to others who are going through difficult times.

9. First book you ever read?

Hmm, I believe I ever read myself was the classic ‘Biff, Chip and Kipper’ books when I was in reception class. Yet I remember my dad used to read me ‘Winnie the Pooh’ as a bedtime story and they were the first books that I truly enjoyed and connected to.

10. If you won the lottery, what would you buy?

I’m afraid it’s another boring answer here! I would save very little for myself, and maybe use it to contribute to my first house, as well as giving some to my family. And honestly, I would split the rest between my favourite charities. I’m aware that it’s not the norm, but I genuinely believe that I’d hate to have so much money. With my depression especially, the idea of being paid is what motivates me to turn up to work each morning. I think that if I was given too much money in one go, money would definitely not buy me happiness, and I’d become bored very easily!

So, that’s it! I hope you’ve gotten to know me a little better, and thanks again for supporting my blog. If you’d like to ask any further questions, or share some thoughts of your own, feel free to comment down below.

Take care,

Sophie x
